The "Shoggi" seiza meditation stool in black-stained solid beech, designed by Alain Gaubert in France around 1980. The seat is an elongated oval with a pronounced concave curve, supported by two trapezoidal legs that slot into recesses on the underside without hardware — a clean knock-down construction that breaks into three flat pieces for storage or transport. Signed under the seat. The matte black finish is consistent across all components. Minor wear to the underside of the seat — light scratches and a faint marking — in keeping with age and use; upper surfaces remain in good vintage condition. Dimensions: H 20 × W 41 × D 20 cm (7.9 × 16.1 × 7.9 in). Functional as intended or used as a low occasional stool or display plinth.
