"Ambassadeur" Clear Crystal Ashtray by Saint-Louis, 1970s

Saint-Louis, France's oldest crystal works (1586), signs with the "Ambassadeur" model one of its most recognisable ashtrays. This clear-crystal example is a fine illustration of it. Round and substantial, the piece is cut with broad diamond-point ribs that pace the wall and make the light burst. The base, cut in a star, extends this play of facets. Three regular notches hold the cigarette. The perfectly colourless crystal reveals the full mastery of Saint-Louis cutting. Perfect condition: no chips, no scratches, crystal of great clarity. A true collector's piece. At 12 cm in diameter by 6 cm high, this ashtray finds its place on a desk, a coffee table or a console, as an ashtray or a catch-all.
