Banc Raw Cork

The piece was designed to showcase local cork resources from the forests of Provence, in their raw form – unground and unprocessed – taken directly from the cork oak after ‘harvest’. Like a sample book, the clearly defined structure of the solid ash wood bench allows its surface to display a composition of various cork specimens, highlighting the bark, the inner layer of the cork and a clean cross-section of its complex, honeycomb-like structure, revealing the material’s channels and subtle veining. While the material is carefully selected, it may exhibit various distinctive irregularities.
