Exceptional Danish Side Table in Oak, Brass and Glass, Denmark 1960s

An exceptional Danish side table, handcrafted in Aalborg during the 1960s. Distinguished by its refined proportions and remarkable combination of materials, the table features an intricate teak parquet top supported by a slender brass column rising from a substantial solid glass base. The tabletop is composed of meticulously arranged teak segments, creating a geometric pattern that beautifully highlights the natural variation of the wood. The elegant brass support provides a subtle contrast to the warmth of the teak, while the heavy glass base lends the piece a sculptural, almost weightless appearance. Bearing its original “Håndarbejde” label, the table is a fine example of small-scale Danish cabinetmaking from the period. The quality of the construction and the careful attention to detail suggest production by a highly skilled workshop, where traditional woodworking techniques were combined with an innovative approach to materials.
