French Palaver Chair by Alain Gaubert in Solid Oak c. 1980 (Signed)

A lounge chair by Alain Gaubert, France, c. 1980, from his "Africanist" series — a body of work drawing on African palaver seat forms and reinterpreting them through a strictly geometric, constructivist lens. The piece is built entirely from flat solid oak panels assembled by interlocking slots, with no visible hardware. Signed "Alain Gaubert" on the back. Condition is very good, with a warm patina and some signs of wear consistent with its age and history. Dimensions: H90 × W40 × D92 cm (H35.4" × W15.7" × D36.2") — 9 kg / 19.84 lbs. This design, with low seat and reclined back, will suit any reading corner or studio while the geometric oak construction holds its own as a sculptural object when empty.
