Grand Canyon - Stainless Steel Coffee Table

The Grand Canyon Centre Table is a sculptural stainless steel centre table from the Grand Canyon Collection. Its surface takes the layered cliffs of the canyon as a starting point, with the texture pushed deeper and more pronounced than elsewhere in the studio's work, translating geological stratification into the proportions of a domestic object. Hydroforming opens the Grade 304 steel under water pressure; hand-hammering then drives the strata into it, so the finished surface reads as cross-sections of rock laid down over time. Mirror-polished sides catch and break light with real intensity, while matte tops hold still against them. Wide and low, the table takes a commanding position in a room and rewards close looking, the surface revealing more depth the nearer you get. Nitush Aroosh is a collectible design studio founded in New Delhi, India by brothers Nitush and Aroosh Mahipal. Self-taught, they shape stainless steel by hydroforming and resolve every piece by hand, so no two are ever exactly alike. Dimensions: 150 x 80 x H 40 cm. Material: Grade 304 stainless steel.
