PK22 Cognac Leather Lounge Chair Pair by Poul Kjærholm, E. Kold Christensen, 1960s

In 1955, Poul Kjærholm designed the PK22, an icon of Danish restraint: a flat steel frame stripped to its essentials, carrying a suspended leather seat. Produced from 1956 by E. Kold Christensen, the model became a benchmark of postwar Scandinavian design, praised for the purity of its line and the precision of its execution. Pair of PK22 lounge chairs by Poul Kjærholm for E. Kold Christensen, circa 1960. Polished steel frame, cognac leather seat and back stretched and laced at the rear with leather straps. Square "double-K" stamp and "Denmark" mark engraved beneath the seat, characteristic of early Kold Christensen production. Cognac leather in good condition for its age, supple and well-conditioned, with light surface scuffs. Steel in very good condition, with an even, attractive patina. Dimensions: height 71 cm, width 63 cm, depth 63 cm, seat height 35 cm. A rare pair in this cognac tone and matched configuration, suited to a discerning interior or a Scandinavian design collection.
