Calacatta Viola is an Italian marble from the Carrara region of Tuscany, once prized as Breccia Medicea, the marble of the Medici, its cool white ground crossed by violet, burgundy, and plum veining. Below the stone, solid oak in a honey tone warms to the marble above so the marble and oak settle into one considered pairing. Each top is cut from its own block, so no two of these marble and oak dining tables are quite alike. The oak does the work of holding the stone up.
