Round Marble Side Table - KYUSHU Series

The Kyushu is a marble side table offered in three stones, a low round table where the marble sets the register and the base stays deliberately quiet. The form holds across all three; only the character of the stone changes. Arabescato Vagli is a white marble from the Vagli basin in the Apuan Alps above Carrara, its sweeping grey veins drawn in the flowing, arabesque lines that name the stone. Dover White is the calmest of the three, a clean white marble whose fine, soft veining stays in the background so the form itself leads. Kenya Black turns the register up, a near-total black broken by pale veining that branches like the grain of old wood, folding back on itself where two slabs are matched. Every top is cut from its own block, so no two of these marble side tables are quite alike. The making is all economy. Two panels of the same marble meet perpendicular and lock into a self-supporting cross-leg base, one passing through the other, the interlocking join left plain as the single detail the design permits.
