The BLEO Auxiliary Table by Daniel Couttolenc is a sculptural solid oak side table whose form traces a single continuous arc: a hemispherical base rises into a curved arm that terminates in a circular surface. There are no right angles — only the logic of the sphere, uninterrupted from ground to tabletop. At 38 × 21 × 55 cm, it is a piece of quiet scale and strong character, the cream wash tint finish giving the oak a softness that makes the form feel organic rather than constructed. BLEO is rooted in the sphere — a form whose perfect geometry has resonated across nature and culture for millennia. Each piece in the collection is built from that primary form and its half: the hemisphere. Proportioned according to the golden ratio, the relationships between volumes are calculated to produce a sense of resolved harmony, the same quality found in a well-composed piece of music. Handcrafted in Mexico in solid oak, the wood is worked to reveal the interplay of curved and flat surfaces — the way light moves differently across a hemisphere than across a plane. The cream wash tint finish softens the grain into warmth and quiet.
