Solid Oak Coffee Table - BLEO Series

The BLEO Coffee Table by Daniel Couttolenc is a sculptural solid oak coffee table built from an interconnected composition of spheres and hemispheres — a cloud-like arrangement of forms that resolves, at 87 × 87 × 34 cm, into a generous and usable surface. The piece reads differently from every angle: from above, a pattern of circles; from the side, a sequence of volumes in dialogue.

The cream wash tint finish softens the oak's grain into warmth, making the whole feel approachable and unhurried. BLEO is rooted in the sphere — a form whose perfect geometry has resonated across nature and culture for millennia. Each piece in the collection is built from that primary form and its half: the hemisphere. Proportioned according to the golden ratio, the relationships between volumes are calculated to produce a sense of resolved harmony, the same quality found in a well-composed piece of music. Handcrafted in Mexico in solid oak, the wood is worked to reveal the interplay of curved and flat surfaces — the way light moves differently across a hemisphere than across a plane.
