Solid Oak Display Pedestal - BLEO Series

The BLEO Pedestal by Daniel Couttolenc is a sculptural solid oak display pedestal in which two kinds of form are held in dialogue: the vertical prism — precise, architectural, angular — and the sphere, which appears concave at the top and convex at the base. At 42 × 42 × 89 cm, the pedestal has the scale and composure of a piece of architecture. The cream wash tint finish gives the oak a quiet, natural warmth that allows the formal contrast between the straight and the curved to read clearly.

BLEO is rooted in the sphere — a form whose perfect geometry has resonated across nature and culture for millennia. Each piece in the collection is built from that primary form and its half: the hemisphere. Proportioned according to the golden ratio, the relationships between volumes are calculated to produce a sense of resolved harmony, the same quality found in a well-composed piece of music.

Handcrafted in Mexico in solid oak. The cream wash tint finish softens the grain into warmth and quiet, making the piece feel at home in natural, pale, or pared-back interiors. BLEO Pedestal works as a display surface for objects, a plinth for sculpture, or as a sculptural presence in its own right. It suits living rooms, entrance halls, and gallery-like domestic settings.
