Solid Oak Stool - TORO Series, Cream Wash Finish

The TORO Stool by Daniel Couttolenc is a handcrafted solid oak stool whose form is derived from the toroid — the shape that nature uses to sustain magnetic fields, found in everything from the structure of the atom to the electromagnetic field of the Earth. At 50 × 50 × 47 cm, the piece has a commanding presence: a sculptural mass proportioned by the golden ratio, carved in solid oak, and finished with a cream wash tint that softens the wood's grain into warmth without obscuring it. The TORO is not a piece that conceals its making. The carving required to achieve the toroid's volume from a block of solid oak is significant, and the finish allows the evidence of that process — the wood's natural variation, the direction of the grain across the curves — to be read in the completed object. Handcrafted in Mexico in solid oak with a cream wash tint. Also available in a black finish and in Tzalam wood. Customisation is available upon request.
