Stainless Steel Mushroom Light

The Mushroom Light is a sculptural stainless steel floor lamp by Nitush Aroosh. Its silhouette is familiar, but its material treatment is entirely unexpected — a richly crumpled stainless steel surface, shaped through controlled pressure, transforms an everyday form into something quietly extraordinary. The crumpled texture is embedded within the steel itself through hydroforming and hand-working. Both emitted and reflected light become part of the design, shifting with every change in the room's illumination. Understated in silhouette but complex in surface, it works equally as a primary light source or design accent in spaces where material-rich objects are valued. Nitush Aroosh is the New Delhi-based collectible design studio of brothers Nitush and Aroosh Mahipal. Their practice uses hydroforming and hand-hammering to push stainless steel beyond its industrial origins — into forms that are fluid, reflective, and alive with light.
