West African Monoxyle Stool in Dark Patinated Wood

A West African stool carved from a single block of dark hardwood, mid-20th century. The concave saddle seat sits on four thick columns above a flat rectangular base — the whole form resolved in one unbroken piece of wood. The columns feature hand-carved horizontal striations while the entire surface carries a deep patina from age and handling. Dimensions: H24 × W37 × D18 cm (H9.4" × W14.6" × D7.1"). Works as a functional low stool or as a sculptural object in its own right, on a shelf or plinth.
